The Federal Documentation Conference (FDC) is the coordinating body of the federal administration for information and documentation. The BiG directs the FDC.

The main purpose of the FDC is to give the BiG technical support, to initiate joint ventures relating to information and to secure the regular exchange of information.

Since 1 January 2009, the BiG has been chairing the FDC and is represented by the head of the BiG. The federal departments and the Federal Chancellery have one seat each. The Swiss National Library, the Parliamentary Services and other interested administrative units are able to participate in an advisory capacity in the FDC (cf. Art. 10 BiGV).
