New issue of the BiG publication series

In issue no. 76 of our publication series, Julien Grand focuses on aircraft acquisition in the Swiss Air Force.

During World War I, authorities saw themselves forced, to an extent, to support the creation of a Swiss air force, because an appeal for funds had been launched. This edition of the BiG's publication series deals with the period in history when the establishment of an autonomous aircraft manufacturing industry was being considered – the concern, at the time, being Switzerland's self-sufficiency. The goal of creating such an industry was never achieved – in particular due to a lack of financial resources and political foresight – and today, the purchase of fighter aircraft remains a frequent hot topic. Only the problem remains the same: how can Switzerland efficiently protect its airspace?
