The Library Am Guisanplatz BiG’s latest exhibition presents a selection of photos from the collection of press photographer Walter Rutishauser (1940–2017). Public tours are offered during the exhibition.

The photographs by Walter Rutishauser (1940–2017) capture a chapter in the history of Swiss political history. Walter ‘Ruti’ Rutishauser worked for many decades as a press photographer in the Federal Palace in Bern.

The exhibition at the Library Am Guisanplatz BiG casts light on Rutishauser’s photographic work through a selection of pictures, including some black-and-white photos not previously exhibited. Taking a look through the photographer’s lens, we present highlights from the 1960s through to the 1990s.

Public tours

During the exhibition, four public guided tours will be offered with Dr. Oswald Sigg, former speaker of the Federal Council, and Mathias Kobel (in german language). Interested visitors can register online at bibliothek@gs-vbs.admin.ch up to one week before the tour date. Guided tours are free of charge; groups are limited to 12 people. The meeting point is at the reception in the Library Am Guisanplatz, Papiermühlestrasse 21 A, 3001 Bern.
