Conference proceedings on the educationalisation of ‘the good life’ (Die Pädagogisierung des “guten Lebens”) published as part of the BiG’s publication series

No 78 of the BiG’s publication series is a collection of several authors’ contributions for a conference on the educationalisation of ‘the good life’. This edition deals with the educationalisation of society through the ages, in and outside of the education system.

We see many examples of educationalisation in society today, for instance in schools when students are taught the supposedly right way to take care of their health, or how they ‘should’ be consuming media. Lessons of this kind are designed to teach children how to live what is considered a ‘good life’. However, this educationalisation is not limited to children or schools, but can be seen in a variety of social settings – and can be directed at adults.

This edition discusses the different forms and developments this ‘educationalisation of the good life’ has experienced throughout history – in and outside of the education system.
