Thematic shelf: Energy transition
Everyone is talking about energy supply, and the energy turnaround has been hotly debated for years. New findings and innovative solutions for renewable energy are proliferating. These developments are relevant for Switzerland. Especially in winter, it cannot cover its own energy needs and depends on foreign electricity and gas. In the current bibliography of the Library at Guisanplatz BiG you will find a selection of books, magazine and newspaper articles on the topic of energy transition.
With Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and the accompanying risk of an electricity shortage, the call for domestic and renewable energy in Switzerland is getting a lot of momentum. The Federal Council is calling on the population to save electricity. Switzerland's electricity supply is still guaranteed, but the authorities are carefully monitoring and constantly reassessing the supply situation. The topic of energy transition has thus taken on new dimensions. Switzerland is increasingly looking at inventions that will enable sustainable electricity from domestic production in the longer term.
